Project Brief

Riyadh is the capital city of Saudi Arabia and receives much attention from the population as it represents the Kingdom in many ways. With strong population growth expected over the coming years and a changing economic environment, the demand for electricity will grow proportionally. The expansion of the existing Riyadh power plant from a simple cycle to a combined cycle involves meeting the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment's (PME) latest environmental rules and regulations requiring all power plants to have an on-site sewage treatment plant. The scope of work for this project entailed designing the treatment process, based on Extended Aeration (EA), and the mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control required for the complete operation of the plant. The project involved close coordination with SEC's appointed utility designer, Worley Parsons, for the plant's electrical and control design interfaces.
